The Signal monuments
Along the 80-kilometer coastline of the D-Day landings, from Ouistreham in the east to Saint-Martin-de-Varreville in the west, the Signal Monuments, designed by Yves-Marie Froidevaux, were built in the 1950s. Six of the monuments are located on the coast and four inland. Ceremonies are held annually in front of these Signal Monuments. The granite monuments, all identical in shape, symbolize the unity of the Allied coalition in 1944. They will remind future generations of the heroism of the Allied forces in the liberation of Europe.
